Instead of simply switching off entire areas during load-shedding, Clarens pioneered a community load-curtailment system. Residents and businesses work together to reduce electricity use when the national grid is under pressure, helping keep the town’s lights on.

Pretty fitting for a town that now has its very own Festival of Lights, don’t you think? ✨
