Good news for travellers from George/ Oudsthoorn side - the Swartberg Pass is open! (At your own risk) Here’s what one of our artists had to say about the journey: “There are a few go-stops between George and Oudtshoorn, and between Oudtshoorn and Wilgewandel. At De Kombuys the whole road is blocked but there is a short detour through the farmer’s land. The Pass itself is more than reasonable and not a problem. The hole at Eerstewater has been filled with stones and the water running over the bridge no longer that much. Bottom line it can be done without a 4x4 as long as no more rain and careful driving.” And of course we look forward to welcoming you on the other side! 💫

WATCH - GEORGE GOLF COURSE LOSES 263 TREES ON 11 MAY - Devastation as course is changed forever

Greens 1, 4 and 16 were damaged as gale-force winds toppled giant trees at the George Golf Club Course on Monday. A total of 263 trees fell on the 120-year-old course. Some of the fallen trees are over 100 years old and have been an integral part of play.
Currently, the course is closed, but the clubhouse and restaurant are open to the public to enjoy a breakfast or a tasty pub lunch. The root system of this giant that feel at the 16th hole completely dwarfs the man in the photo. Click the link in the comment section below to watch a video.
