👀 Something interesting off the Onrus coast today…

Anyone else wondering what this research vessel is doing out there? 🌊🔬

I did a little digging and it looks like it’s the Ellen Khuzwayo, a South African fisheries research vessel.

She’s used for marine research and fisheries surveys — so there’s apparently some serious ocean science happening right on our doorstep. 🐟🌊

Meanwhile, we’re just sitting here with our binoculars thinking… “Ooh, what’s THAT?” 😂

Love living in Onrus. You never quite know what’s going to appear on the horizon. 💙

*Public Service Announcement*

The Independent Electoral Commission will be conducting a voter registration weekend on 20 and 21 June, with IEC staff on hand to assist voters to correctly register for the November 4 Local Government Elections 2026.

In respect of the newest ward demarcation, residents above the R43 in Berghof and Chanteclaire will migrate to Ward 4, with the registration/voting station being the Northcliff House College in Berghof.

All residents living in these 2 suburbs have to re-register to qualify to vote.

The registration/voting station for the Vermont suburb has now been changed from Amana to the NG Kerk in Berg Street.
No re-registeration is required by Vermont residents who were previously registered to vote at Amana, but all newcomers would have to re-register.

*NB*
For Onrus residents residing above Main Road up to Douglas Street and then up to the corner of Mossop Street and along to the Western border of the Onrus cemetery, re-registration would also be required. This area has now been included in the NG Kerk registration/voting station area and you would no longer vote at the de Wet Hall.

Re-registration at the NG Kerk in Berg Street is thus required.

All other residents of Onrus would still vote at the de Wet Hall and of course all newcomers not yet registered to vote there needs to re- register as well

Sometimes it's only from above that we truly appreciate how fortunate we are to live between mountain and ocean, surrounded by nature's beauty.

Berghof Supporting One of Our Own:

Many of our residents know the Agenbag family, among the first families to call Berghof home.
Their son, Tinouw, recently underwent emergency life-saving heart surgery and now faces a challenging recovery journey.
We are sharing this with our wider Berghof community.
Our thoughts are with Tinouw and his family during this difficult time. ❤️
