After wrapping up the Merino Camino 100km trail the other week, I was right back on the greens for the Gillitts Bowling Club Ladies Trips game tournament last week Friday—and what a fantastic day it was!

Five days on the Merino Camino and 100km of breathtaking Karoo scenery later, my feet are resting, but my heart is so full. We crossed through 3 provinces and 4 charm-filled small towns, taking in golden sunsets, hidden wildflowers, and local wildlife along the way.

Beyond the incredible views, the biggest takeaway from the trail was a gentle reminder about perspective, to stop focusing so much on the finish line and simply enjoy where you are right now. When you stop rushing toward the destination and stay present in each step, the walk feels lighter, and life feels a whole lot richer.

For anyone who feels called to an adventure like this, it’s a slackpack trail—so all the logistics, meals, and guest house accommodations are completely taken care of. You just show up, lace up your boots, and enjoy the path ahead.
