As we head into high season, Black Friday and the Christmas holidays, people are excited to travel, book accommodation and grab a good deal. Unfortunately, scammers know this too.

We're seeing increasingly convincing messages pretending to be booking confirmations, accommodation providers and booking platforms.

⚠️ Please be careful!

A few simple rules could save you a lot of money and heartache:

🔹 If someone pressures you to urgently confirm a booking, verify payment details or click a link, STOP.

🔹 Always contact the property directly using the contact details on its official website or verified booking platform.

🔹 Never trust a link simply because it contains your booking number, travel dates or personal details.

🔹 Ask AI to review suspicious links and messages before clicking. It can help identify red flags, although it cannot guarantee a link is safe.

🔹 If something feels off, trust your instincts and verify independently.

🔹 Don't forward unverified messages, links or warnings. Check the facts first. We don't want to spread misinformation while trying to prevent scams.

🎄 This is a busy and exciting time of year, but it's also a time when people can become vulnerable because they're desperate to secure that holiday booking or special offer.

Let's protect each other. Share awareness, not panic. Verify before you click. And when in doubt, contact the property directly.

🌞 HELLO NOVEMBER! 🌊

And just like that, we're stepping into November and getting ready for PEAK SEASON at Rustic Dune! 🏖️

Our units are ready, the beds are made, and we're looking forward to welcoming familiar faces and new guests for some well-deserved coastal escapes.

October was a month of mixed emotions. On the business side, we were incredibly grateful to see our numbers picking up and the momentum building. Every booking, recommendation and bit of support means the world to our little family business. ❤️

On the family side, October brought some unexpected challenges. We celebrated Ouma Maureen's 86th birthday, but sadly, on that very same day, she suffered a femur fracture. She is still in hospital, and while recovery takes time, we're keeping positive and trusting that better days are ahead.

We're sending a little extra love and asking for a few extra prayers for Ouma Maureen. ❤️

But November, we're ready for you! More sunshine, more seaside memories, more happy guests and hopefully plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Thank you for continuing to support our family, our little business and our dream. We don't take it for granted.

What an honour to have Rustic Dune represented by Carina Walton at the SterStatus Gala! 🥂

It was an emotional evening filled with excitement, anticipation and the big winner announcement (🤫 we’re keeping that under wraps for now!).

For us, this was about more than attending a gala. It was an incredible opportunity to showcase the Rustic Dune brand, connect with new people and hopefully open the door to an exciting new chapter for our little coastal getaway. 🌊☀️

🎁 And the prize? A dream coastal escape!

We can’t wait to welcome the SterStatus winner to Rustic Dune for a beautiful 3-night stay, complete with a flight voucher and airport transfers. From the moment they arrive, we’ll be ready to show them what makes our little slice of Aston Bay so special. ❤️

🏡 A LITTLE LESS CLEANING, A LITTLE MORE HOLIDAY! 🌊

At Rustic Dune, we believe our guests are here to relax — not to do chores! ❤️

Most guests naturally tidy up as they go, and honestly, we've only had a handful of really messy checkouts. Accidents happen. It's part of life, and we're not going to make a fuss about it.

Airbnb has updated its rules so hosts can no longer require guests to complete time-consuming cleaning tasks before checkout. 🧹

Things like stripping beds, taking out rubbish, and washing and putting away dishes are now off-limits as mandatory checkout requirements. Hosts can still make reasonable requests, like leaving used dishes in the sink.

Of course, there are two sides to every story. Some hosts may have taken cleaning expectations too far, while some guests might take advantage of the relaxed rules.

Our philosophy? Treat the space with respect, leave it reasonably tidy, and enjoy your stay! ☀️

At Rustic Dune, hospitality means helping you unwind — not handing you a checkout chore list. 😉
