PUBLIC NOTICE: MUNICIPAL INCIDENT

Ithemba Property Management confirms that an incident occurred early this morning involving a municipal transformer located in New Doornfontein, near two of our residential buildings.

This infrastructure is not owned, operated, or maintained by Ithemba Property Management.

At the time of the incident, armed response officers were attending to reports of smoke in the area when the explosion occurred. Two security officers and one member of the public, who was passing by at the time, sustained injuries and were transported for medical treatment. No further injuries have been reported.

The affected area has been secured and remains under the control of the relevant authorities. Access to the site is restricted until it has been formally declared safe.

Ithemba Property Management is working with the relevant municipal authorities and service providers where possible to support a safe and timely resolution. We urge the public to disregard speculation or unverified information currently circulating and to rely only on official communications and trusted news sources.

We would like to thank SAPS, City Power, EMS and the City’s Health and Safety officials for their prompt response and assistance.
