* # # Don't forget: Ride Joburg is on Sun 26 Oct: Here’s What You Need to Know*
If you are someone who typically needs to use or cross Jan Smuts Ave on a Sunday morning, mark your calendar.
*In our area, Jan Smuts Ave will be completely closed from roughly 6am to 3pm on 26 October*
* # # Why the Change?*
The G20 Summit is coming to Johannesburg in November, bringing world leaders to Nasrec. The security lockdown required for an event of that scale means the area needs to be completely sterile weeks before the actual summit – so hosting 10,000+ cyclists there in early November just isn’t going to work.
* # # What Stays the Same?*
The route and direction remain unchanged. If you’re a resident or business owner along or near the route, you know the drill: same road closures, same approximate timing as previous years, just four weeks earlier.
* # # What This Means for You*
- *Residents*: Plan any Sunday morning errands or commitments around the closure – coffee runs, Gautrain, airport runs, gym sessions, visiting family.
- *Parents*: If you’ve got kids’ sport or activities, you may need alternative routes.
- *Social plans*: Brunch in Parkhurst or Rosebank? Pickns suburb on your side. Don't try & cross over.
More info and route maps will be posted closer to the race.
Regards
