Rent-to-Buy is very often confused with Rent-to-Own or legally in South Africa known as Instalment Sale, in a Rent-to-Own agreement, the seller is like a bank, he/she will finance the deal meaning there is no bank finance needed as the seller is the financier in this agreement.

Just like the bank, the seller will give you 5-15 years to own the property however, huge deposits are required in this agreements and the instalments will be higher as the term is usually between 5-15 years. In this style of purchase, by law, the seller must give you the buyer 5 years to fully pay the balance of the purchase price, if it exceeds 5 years, the seller must be registered as a financial service provider.

Its been proven that one source of income is not enough, Warren Buffet has 92 income streams. Oprah Winfrey television made her rich however, Real Estate made her wealthy. So you can start a side hustle while working.

Your employer owns your hours between 8 - 5, Monday to Friday (that’s a lot of hours) and pays you according to what they think your time is worth (salary). What you do with the rest of the hours in the day is up to you, do yourself a favour and learn a skill, a skill that will make you money.

People always say I can’t sell or I don’t like selling. Here’s my question to you, when you are going to an interview and the interviewer asks you “so tell us about your yourself”, your answer is you selling yourself for the position, why you know you would be a perfect candidate. When you go on a first date with someone you’ve just met, the “I want to get to know you” is all about selling. No one is born with a skill to sell, it’s a teachable skill.

I’m passionate about real estate and I didn’t anything about it when I started, all I knew was I love real estate. I started learning, buying books, watched webinars and because I was passionate about it, I started to attract people that have more knowledge than me and they mentored me.

Do you know what’s the new currency nowadays? Attention. Attention is the new currency, as long you have Facebook, Instagram etc you can command attention, look at the kids that did the Woolworths water thing, social media influencers, major brands are partnering with them because they’ve got attention (followers). In a nutshell, you’ve got no excuse, Learn A New Skill.
