A lot of people have asked me recently why Prosperity Enterprises Property Group set a goal of building a portfolio of 1,000 rental units.
The truth is, the goal was never really about the number.
The idea started when I saw a problem that so many working South Africans face every day.
You can find affordable accommodation, but it is often far from where the jobs are.
Or you can live close to opportunity, but at a price that many people simply cannot afford.
The result is long commutes, high transport costs, less time with family, and fewer opportunities to build a better future.
When we started Prosperity Enterprises Property Group in 2023, our vision was simple:
Create affordable, safe, fully furnished accommodation close to major employment hubs, allowing people to live closer to opportunity without sacrificing dignity.
Thatโs why our model was designed differently.
Not just rooms.
Homes.
Places where someone can move in with nothing more than a backpack and immediately have access to a bed, furniture, kitchen essentials, Wi-Fi, security, and a professional management team that genuinely cares about the living experience.
As the portfolio started growing, I realised something important.
If we truly believed in property as a vehicle for long-term wealth creation, we couldnโt only help clients build portfolios.
We needed to build one ourselves.
The 1,000-unit goal became a symbol of that commitment.
Not because 1,000 is a magical number.
But because reaching it would mean that thousands of people would have access to quality accommodation, more families and working professionals would be able to live closer to opportunity, and we would have proven that affordable housing, long-term wealth creation, and good business can coexist.
Today, weโve grown to more than 100 rental units in just two years.
The journey is still in its early chapters.
But the vision remains the same:
Create opportunity.
Create dignity.
Create long-term wealth.
One unit at a time.
