Three years. Countless shoots. Mornings spent chasing the light across the Garden Route and one very opinionated wire fox terrier co-starring in more frames than anyone planned.

Today we say a bittersweet goodbye to Chad and Fred as they swap Knysna for Cape Town.

Chad, working with you has been a genuine pleasure. You brought calm to a hectic set, an eye that made every property look its very best and a patience for Fred that honestly deserves its own award. The early mornings, the last minute light changes, the moments where everything just came together and you captured exactly that. We will carry all of it.

And Fred. Fred, you were simply yourself. That was always more than enough.

Cape Town is lucky to get you both. Knysna will feel the gap more than we'd like to admit.

The Engel & Völkers Knysna team headed to George last week for the Lightstone Property Seminar — and came back with a much sharper picture of where the Garden Route market actually stands.

A few things that stood out:

🏡 The Western Cape holds just 18% of South Africa's residential properties — but accounts for 31% of total property value. Average property value here is R1,836,187, the highest of any province.

⛳️ Simola, Pezula and Kingswood all feature in the Top 20 highest average sales value estates on the Garden Route for 2025 — proof that this region continues to hold its own among South Africa's most prestigious addresses.

⏱️ People are staying longer. 66% of Garden Route sellers have held their properties for up to 10 years before selling — a strong signal of confidence in this market.

🌍 Foreign buyers are a growing presence — representing 35% of private buyers above R8 million nationally.

📈 Western Cape house price growth continues to outperform the national average.
