Our Story
The West Coast of South Africa is known for its rugged beauty and wild flowers which carpet the area in early spring each year. Geographically situated between metropolitan Cape Town, one of the World’s most sought after tourist attraction, and the old Skeleton coast of Namibia, where coastal diamond mining has taken place for the last century, this area is rapidly increasing in popularity for people to live, or visit for vacations. The climate is mild and “Mediterranean” in nature with hot dry summers and cool wet winters, making it increasingly popular for outdoor loving residents.
The cold Benguela current in the South Atlantic Ocean has been home to many types of fish, from Rock Lobsters to whales, that have given rise to an extensive fishing industry in the entire area. From Yzerfontein to Lamberts Bay, fishing harbours and processing facilities also exist at Saldanha Bay and St Helena Bay. The area around Saldanha Bay , the largest natural harbour in South Africa, has recently been identified as a Strategic Growth Area for the country with various shipping and manufacturing industries being established. This has created a rapidly rising demand for housing in the towns of Saldanha, Langebaan and Vredenburg.
The area has recently been identified as one of the world’s best sites for renewable energy. The coastal areas are now proudly leading the country in the implementation of wind farms that feed into the National electrical grid.
With its rugged beauty, moderate climate, abundance of seafood restaurants, a growing economy, the area is rapidly becoming one of the sought after destinations for those re-locating from other areas of South Africa.
