*DIE ALLERGIE VAN DIE SIEL* - _Ellaine Malan_

Kyk net met hoeveel moeite beskerm ek my liggaam...
Ek ondersoek my allergieë, vind uit presies wat my liggaam verkeerdelik affekteer en maak seker dat ek die regte medikasie gebruik — sonder foute!
Ek dra selfs ’n mediese bandjie, sodat iemand my kan help as ek in nood nie self kan praat nie.
Waarom soveel moeite? Omdat my lewe daarvan kan afhang.

In teenstelling vra ek: Doen ek dieselfde moeite om die allergieë van my siel te ondersoek?
Weet ek waarvoor my siel vatbaar is.
Wat my geestelike lewe siek maak.
Wat my verhouding met God kan vergiftig.
Hoe ek my siel beter kan beskerm en waarteen ek moet waak?

My mediese bandjie is ’n rooi lig wat waarsku:
“Moenie vir my gee waarvoor my liggaam allergies is nie!”
Dra ek ook ’n rooi lig vir my siel? Nie vir mense nie — maar vir myself:
“Duisternis is nie deel van my nie.
Daar is geen onderhandeling oor my siel nie!
Hier is geen toegang sonder my toestemming nie.”

Ons beskerm en verseker ons liggame, huise, geld en besittings. Die wêreld en sy geglinster doen só baie moeite om ons tyd, aandag, waardes, begeertes en uiteindelik selfs ons siele te koop.
Maar doen ons dieselfde moeite om óns siele te versorg?
Waak ons ook só oor ons hart, ons verstand en ons siel?

As ek glo dat my siel aan God behoort en vir die ewige lewe bestem is, dan is dit tog die grootste skat wat ek ooit kan besit.
Miskien is dit tyd vir ’n bietjie introspeksie — net om vas te stel of ons natuurlike en geestelike boeke klop, en te besef hoe maklik ons die tydelike beskerm en die ewige verwaarloos.
Soos Markus 8:36 vra:
“Wat baat dit ’n mens immers as hy die hele wêreld win, maar sy siel verloor?”

Dus is die vraag nie net:
“Waarvoor is my liggaam allergies?”
maar ook:
“Hoe moet ek my siel bewaak?”
