Paintbrush lilies, spotted around Monaghan.

These remarkable indigenous bulbs spend much of the year out of sight before sending up their unmistakable brush-like flowers.

These photographs came from Beautiful Monaghan, the residents’ WhatsApp group where people share the plants, animals, landscapes and small things they notice around the Farm. A useful record of what is growing, flowering and moving through Monaghan as the seasons change.

A morning learning about snakes at Monaghan.

African Reptiles and Venom joined the community for a practical talk and demonstration, looking at the snakes we may encounter, how to identify them and how to respond safely.

Living close to the veld means understanding the wildlife that shares it with us. Sessions like this help turn an encounter into something informed and considered.
