As some economists, academics and analysts, predicted a 0.50% hike, the SARB indeed announced another 0.50% prime interest rate increase.

How does it impact a R1 000 000 home loan over a 20-year term at 11,75%?

The monthly instalment calculated @ 11.75% amounts to R10 837.07. This is an increase of R344.51 p/m compared to an instalment calculated at the rate of 11.25% over a 20-year term.

Updated Property Transfer and Bond Registration Cost Sheet effective 1 April 2023

Changes were made to the transfer duty earlier this year and recently the deeds office fees were increased slightly.

BUDGET SPEECH: WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2023
Herewith a short summary of todayโ€™s budget speech (mostly good news) which will be effective as from 1 March 2023:
No increase in personal income tax.
The personal income tax thresholds increase from R91 250 to R95 750. In other words, if you earn up to R95 750, you donโ€™t pay income tax.
Transfer duty will now only apply to properties sold for R1 100 000 or more. That is a 10% increase which is good news for buyers.
As usual we saw an increase in โ€œsins taxโ€ on alcohol and to***co โ€“ this has gone up by 4.9%. This means that the duty on:
A 340 ml can of b**r increases by 10 cents.
A 750 ml bottle of w**e goes up by 18 cents.
A 750 ml bottle of spirits will increase by R3.90
The duty rises with 98 cents on a pack of 20 ci******es.

0.25% INTEREST RATE HIKE!

Prime lending rate is now 10.75%

As was predicted by economists, academics and analysts, the SARB has announced a 0.25% interest rate increase. This comes amid high inflationary conditions in South Africa and interest rate hikes are key to containing inflation.

How does it impact a R1 000 000 home loan over a 20-year term at 10.75%?

The new instalment amounts to +/-R10 152.29 p/m. An increase of +/- R168.49 p/m compared to the instalment calculated at 10.50%, the rate announced in November
