If you’re thinking of a perfect getaway, Paternoster is a small, traditional fishing village, a hidden gem in the West Coast not to be missed, with whitewashed houses and coastal views where you could imagine you’re in a mini Greece!
A mere 3 minutes walk to a choice of 2 beaches (both dog friendly) in Mosselbank area. Beach walks here are a must and such a joy.
Less than a 3 minute drive to the village itself, where you have the convenience of the local supermarket (recently renovated), providing fresh baked bread and croissants for breakfast time, various freshly made cakes and fabulous local cheeses and meats. The chemist is next door too for any minor ailments and the nearest private hospital, just 10 mins drive away.
From the beginning of the village, you’re in the midst of local art, crafts and beautiful boutique clothing shops. Hobnobbery, Ancient Spirit, Stone Fish Studio, amongst others.
Drive or walk a little further, on your left, the famous Panty Bar! Venture in and take a photo or two!
Continue on the road and you will reach the Paternoster Waterfront. Stroll around the newly renovated Art Shed and be blown away at the local design arts and crafts.
The restaurants in Paternoster are off the charts! Highly acclaimed, Leeto, Strandloper Beach Boutique Hotel (only 200 metres from Wagtail Cottage). The Noisy Oyster, not only fun, welcoming & vibey, but their food is so delicious and top notch!
A little bit further, there is the Jolly Roger pub with fabulous sea views. Just around the corner, you will arrive at the Paternoster Waterfront. Don’t hesitate to visit De See Kat Restaurant. Sea views, seafood to die for and an amazing view of the ocean.
Whilst you’re there. Why not book tickets for a show at the Die Koelkamer Theatre. Or take a bike ride with Wow e-bikes to explore the local area. Failing that, venture out on the ocean waves for a kayak trip or a horse ride on the beach!
Embrace the beauty, simplicity and friendliness of this beautiful coastal village. You won’t regret it! ❤️
