October 25, 2025: A Vibrant October at Appin
October has brought a refreshing burst of energy after a quieter September. Our Suite remains a guest favorite, booked solid year-round for its serene, secure, and picturesque surroundings. The Garden Cottage, with its old-world yet modern appeal, has also been a hit during these recent months, charming visitors with its cozy character.
We recently waved goodbye to a delightful family from Saudi Arabia who couldn’t stop praising their memorable stay at the house. They were particularly touched by the warm, attentive care from our staff, which truly means the world to us. We also had the pleasure of hosting a few young athletes in town for a tennis tournament at Durban’s West Ridge Stadium. They loved their time here, and their enthusiasm was contagious.
The spring rains have worked their magic on our property. The azalea's and indigenous Clivia's are flowering, the lawn is turning lush and green, and the all plants are bouncing back beautifully after the dry winter. On the bottom lawn, we’re expanding our veggie garden with a new 3 x 3m patch, soon to be filled with gem squash, potatoes, corn, and vibrant sunflowers. The team has sprinkled in colourful flowering plants to liven up the patch and attract pollinators. Essy’s been in her element, crafting lovely flower arrangements that add a special touch for our guests.
Looking ahead, we’re gearing up to replace the corrugated iron roof on the Suite and workshop next month. Maintaining this stunning property is a full-time job, but it’s a labor of love to keep Appin the special place it is.
