FAQ Friday!
Ever wondered how long it takes for a seller to receive payment after a property is registered?
Conveyancing attorney Denoon Sampson explains:
• Before transfer is lodged, the purchase price is secured in the conveyancer’s trust account.
• Once the property is officially registered in the buyer’s name, the bank guarantee triggers payment overnight.
• Typically, sellers receive their payment the afternoon following registration.
• On rare occasions, it may take a couple of days if the purchaser’s bank delays the transfer.
In short, as soon as your property is officially yours, the funds are on their way!
