Jan Vermaak When you are thinking of doing something - Do it

Hi almal.
Lekker dag

I have off-line for very long! And no I will not blame it on Covid. This purely my neglect. But today in church the Trojan horse was used as an example how the people of Troy was taken by surprise.
Well looking at incident the soldiers entered the portal of Troy while they were inside the horse.
My observation early this year is that we must take care not to allow our trojan horse to entered. Your trojan horse can be anything - drinking, stealing, lying, having an affair?
What are you going to do this year to prevent your trojan horse to enter your portal?
Stay safe in Christ

Hi Everyone. It's been long since I posted anything - but I feel compelled to say something again. During these times I learnt of many people suffering a lot and struggle to make ends meat. My wife and I are now constantly dedicating ourselves to talk to the Lord or just listening to messages. We also listen to our own congregation's messages on Sundays. Well, some time ago I listened to a message of Angus Buchan and he clearly stated - and I agree totally with him - that it is not the church or a preacher or person that will get you to heaven, but it is your relationship with God that will.
I sometimes wondered what is the true purpose of the preacher - is it to guide you - to scold you - or to give God's message? This of course is really God's message and not the one you think of and now trying to get people to follow that message (which in actual fact I think is more like inspirational speaker).
With that being said - the other day we listened to a message by our preacher referring to the fact that if we want to be living well, we should give out ties - using the scripture to emphasize this point. Ouch - during these times where many people lost their jobs, have reduced or even no income - is this really what Christians want to hear - especially those that cannot even afford to buy a bread. And then to couple this to a sermon where potentially thousands of people can listen to it.
I think this is why so many "Christians" have turned their backs on the church. These type of almost biblical threats is typical to try and force people to, as a last resort, give some money to the church in a hope that God will help them; whilst, this is actually only a way to tell the congregation to pay-up in order for the preacher to get his/her income.
It just seems as though churches today are just in for the money and not to give that essential Godly food for our souls. Charismatic behavior and speeches are there to move people to do something inline with what the speaker wants to achieve. On the other hand - a Godly message of hope and support, will also move an individual - but towards what is beneficial to God and not to the speaker.
Especially during these times, I pray that preachers will change their way of comforting people instead of manipulating them.

As per normal, I want to leave an idea for those open minded followers. I am of the opinion that your clothes don't count much - if anything at all - when you want to follow Jesus. I must however, admit that sloppy clothes like shorts and sandals, are nor really the way to show your value for Christ, but to have such strict and over-exaggerated dress code is not making you a better Christian.
Christ wants us to follow Him with a pure heart an He is not looking at your clothes - but at how your pursue Him. If you decide to follow God - do it with the correct armour - not clothes.
Clothes might cover your blemishes - observed by people in the world - but those blemishes will always be visible to God.
Being dressed with God's armour might not always be visible by people but will guard you against the fiery arrows of the Devil.
Let God's grace overshadow you and protect you from the Devil and sins.
Next time I will start to talk about the Campaign planning process for the Christian soldier.
God bless you

It is bad when you are constantly reminded about the things you did wrong in the past. God forgives and forgets your sins - based on the agreement that you must never do it again. Yet, despite the fact that God forgave you and you are not doing it anymore - people don't forgive and don't forget.
I am asking - are we (people) then regarding ourselves greater than God?

There's been a great desire/drive within me to do something great for God. A couple of years ago I really found God's grace and I couldn't figure out how to repay.
Well today in church God showed me what I could do. Probably a very small way to repay but I believe as it progress it will grow.
I want to use this page to comment on what I received from God - especially ito the message and how I see God's will for me in it.
Today the message was about Samuel who had to anoint a new king in accordance with God's will. Jesse's boys passed by Samuel but God did not took favor in them, not until David came in. Although the other boys were good in stature God was not looking at their physical strength - God was looking for the one who had personal connection with Him.
For me this implied that when God is chosing someone to work for him - that individual doesn't have to be the strongest, or wealthiest, or most beautiful person - He is looking for someone who will stand up for Him - despite the Goliath. God is looking for someone like me and you - however, we must be willing to denounce the world and do His will.
I pray that God will help us to be His soldiers - to fight the world (Devil) and to help others to fight the world. Its like the beach full of star fishes - everyone that is thrown back into the sea experienced the change.
I also pray that God will give me the strength to continue living this desire in order to help throwing back the star fishes - one at a time

I entered this new year by visiting a concert of Danie Botha. What a wonderful way to start the year in Gods presence. Without the fear of a headache or babelaas.

Today I witnessed two situations that made me to do this post.
The first one was from a women who blamed the year about her love life. She said "2020 stop your s**t and make it a better year" ???
Well I don't even want to comment on this statement - you are in control of your life. Stop blaming others for things you could have or can change.
The second instance was an old man in front of me in the shop along the N4. He bought a pie and a coke - and my inner self told me to pay for it. But then I looked at him and I refrained to pay because he looked alright despite his wrinkled clothes. But that could have been from sitting in a car seat.
However, when I left the shop he was sitting under an umbrella outside with a small bag. My wife and I immediately reacted to ask him where he was going. He said Nelspruit - we were on our way to Emalahleni and offered him a lift. He accepted and we drove off. We wife asked him where he was from - he said he left Swartruggens yesterday morning - nothing else.
With the thunder outside and relaxing in a warm bath I was thinking - where is he now - is he safe - maybe he went there to visit his family (maybe for the last time) - he could be a surgeon who experienced something bad in his life - maybe he lost his job - lost everything - maybe that money for the coke and pie was the last money he had.
Instead of saying '2020 stop your s**t' I want to say - God give me the wisdom and the ability to help someone who needs help this year - be there for what God wants me to be. God was wonderful for me this year - through tough times and He still walked and carried me through.
I pray that the old man is save - wherever he now is. I just wish I did something different today - but I know God brought the situation back to me in order for me to reflect and change my inner self to be more reactive to react in the correct manner according to the requirements of the situation God will put before me in the next year.
