A new residence designed for Mjejane Game Reserve, a private Big Five reserve sharing an unfenced boundary with the Kruger along the Crocodile River.

The home is shaped by its bushveld setting before anything else. The design unfolds across a series of linked pavilions under steep gabled roofs. Dark timber cladding, standing-seam metal, and lighter timber slat screens root the architecture in its surroundings, paired with stone and a restrained natural palette.

A vaulted living, dining, and kitchen pavilion opens fully to the landscape, anchored by a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace and framed by glazed gable ends. An outdoor entertainment pavilion houses a pizza oven, bar, and fire feature, designed for long evenings under open sky. The principal suite continues the language with a fluted glass ensuite and freestanding tub, and the entry sequence is marked by a timber rafter portico paired with a reflective water feature.

Rooted in its setting and refined through detail, this Val de Vie residence offers a considered expression of contemporary living.

Set within the prestigious Val de Vie Estate in the heart of the Cape Winelands, this newly completed residence was designed in deep conversation with its landscape. The mountains, the water, the avenues of cypress that define the estate, all of it considered.

What unfolds inside is its own world. A sequence of considered spaces, layered materials, sculptural lighting, and finely calibrated detail. Months of meticulous design, considered construction, and the kind of craft that does not announce itself until you step closer.
