Tonight’s storm🙌
・・・
What an incredible evening of thunderstorms!
Earlier this evening, a beautiful thunderstorm came over Durban, however, I was having dinner with my dad, whom I hadn't seen since August last year, so I couldn't go out to take photos.
There will always be more thunderstorms, but time with loved ones should be cherished.
At around 10pm, whilst my cats and I were getting ready to go to bed, I heard distant thunder, and before I knew it, another storm was upon us.
I headed down to my usual spot on Bronze Beach in Umhlanga Rocks and pointed my camera up towards Umdloti.
The lightning strikes tore through the dark sky with blinding light, with explosive roaring thunder rolling over the ocean in tow. The winds were severe, and I struggled to keep my footing at one point as the wind blew against my back.
Strangely, I noticed that the waves were coming in towards the shore at different angles and colliding into each other. I've read that such waves can be caused by strong and localised rip tides and are very dangerous. I wasn't planning on swimming, though, so I was happy to just watch the phenomenon...
I took two sets of photos tonight, but I decided to share this one so long. I hope that you like it.
This is a composite image created from some of the images that I captured, which have then been overlayed to create the single image.
South Africa has the most incredible beauty, and her storms are amazing. Keep looking for the beauty. It's there...
I am Proudly South African.
