Layered histories, brought into the light.

In this interview, we look closer at the work of Lebohang Kganye, whose practice moves between photography, video, mixed media, and sculptural installation.

Her work often brings together research, autobiography, theatre, and poetry, creating pieces that explore memory, identity, and postcolonial histories in deeply layered ways.

Featured at Nine Yards, Prisoner doing the general work is a photo-sculpture installation printed on steel, continuing Kganye’s practice of transforming image, history, and object into something that asks us to look again.

A work that holds presence, story, and light.

From artist-designed blankets in a small Johannesburg gallery to how it has grown into something much bigger...

In this interview, Something Good Studio reflects on the journey from those early beginnings to the moment a chance meeting at 100% Design sparked a collaboration that would become Romaria.

What began with three knitwear pieces has continued to evolve into a fuller expression of textile, craft, and wearable design, with new collections now moving toward complete looks, layered pieces, and garments made to be lived in.

A story of collaboration, creativity, and what can happen when one idea finds the right people to carry it forward.
