—HORIZONTÉ
A villa for two, because apparently eight bedrooms and a cinema were not required for civilisation to continue.
Set into the coastal dunes of Ponta Mamoli, HORIZONTÉ is an exercise in deliberate restraint: one floating roof, a few stone walls, deep shade, warm timber, glass where absolutely necessary, and the Indian Ocean doing most of the showing off.
The plan is less concerned with impressing guests and more interested in the serious business of waking up slowly, swimming unnecessarily often, staring at the horizon for extended periods, and occasionally debating whether lunch requires leaving the terrace.
Architecture here is treated less as an object and more as a frame. The dune remains the foreground, the sea remains the destination, and the building simply negotiates the distance between the two.
Minimalism, of course, is never quite as simple as it looks. It requires removing almost everything until only the expensive decisions remain.
HORIZONTÉ — somewhere between shelter and escape.
