Comfortable spacious and fully equipped self-catering holiday apartments. Self-catering holiday apartments each with superb views of the sea and lagoon.

Ideally situated within walking distance to safe bathing, tidal pool, super tube and mini golf courses as well as being close to shopping centres and restaurants. There are 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom apartments at Pearly Shells as well as 4 (four) spacious penthouses on the top floor with the most spectacular views. Our self-catering apartments at Pearly Shells are fully equipped with a fridge, microwave and stove. On the property there is a swimming pool, braai area and leisure room with table tennis, pool table, games and large screen TV for popular sport events, where evenings can be happily occupied with family and friends. Four excellent golf courses, bowling greens, squash courts, scuba diving and rock fishing are all close by. T C Robertson Nature Reserve is only 200m from our doorstep and Pearly Shells is in close proximity to scenic drives and places of interest all along our beautiful South Coast.

A beautiful, fresh and sunny start to Friday here at Pearly Shells! 💙 It's around 19–20°C this morning, with plenty of sunshine expected and temperatures climbing to a pleasant 23–24°C throughout the day. ☀️🌴

It's going to be a windy one along the South Coast, with north-easterly winds reaching approximately 25–35 km/h and stronger gusts of up to 45 km/h possible. 💨 With very little chance of rain, it's shaping up to be a lovely sunny Friday along our beautiful coastline!

SCOTTBURGH'S WATERS ARE HOME TO SOME INCREDIBLE FISH! 😲

Most people know Scottburgh for its beautiful beaches, but did you know that the waters around Scottburgh Point are also a favourite hunting ground for some impressive fish?

🎣 Shad (Elf) – A firm favourite among South Coast anglers.

🐟 Garrick (Leervis) – A powerful gamefish that many anglers dream of landing!

🐟 Kob (Kabeljou) – A prized catch often associated with deeper water and evening fishing.

🐟 Kingfish (Kingies) – Fast, powerful predators known for putting up an exciting fight.

🐟 Brusher (White Musselcracker) – A sought-after fish found around rocky coastal areas.

And that's not all!

Scottburgh's fishing waters have also produced rockcod, blacktail, grey sharks and rays! 🦈

From the rocks at Scottburgh Point to the beaches and gullies nearby, there's a whole underwater world that many holidaymakers never realise exists.

🌿 DID YOU KNOW? 🐂

SCOTTBURGH ONCE HAD A HILL KNOWN AS “RINDERPEST HILL”! 😲

Back in the 1890s, a devastating cattle disease called rinderpest swept through southern Africa, threatening livestock and the livelihoods of farming communities.

Scottburgh was not spared.

Local pioneer George Joseph Crookes played a role in efforts to protect cattle against the disease, including inoculation.

Sadly, not all the animals survived. According to local historical accounts, cattle that died were buried on a hill near Scottburgh — a place that became known as Rinderpest Hill.

But here's another fascinating connection!

Decades later, in 1936, the very same George Joseph Crookes offered to build and equip a hospital for the Scottburgh community.

That hospital opened in 1939 and eventually became known as GJ Crookes Hospital — a name still familiar to South Coast residents today.

🏥 From helping farmers during a devastating epidemic to helping establish a hospital, Crookes left a lasting mark on Scottburgh's history.

🌊 DID YOU KNOW? 🎣🐟

A WORLD-RECORD FISH WAS CAUGHT RIGHT OFF SCOTTBURGH! 🏆

On 14 March 1982, angler Michael John Wilkinson landed an enormous 44.91 kg couta (king mackerel) off Scottburgh, KwaZulu-Natal!

Fishing aboard his 16-foot boat, Lorna Lee, Michael was trolling a Rapala lure when the monster struck.

After a thrilling 15-minute battle, he managed to land the fish.

But here's the incredible part — he didn't even realise he'd caught a world record until days later! 😲

The catch earned him the International Game Fish Association's All-Tackle World Record for narrow-barred Spanish mackerel.

More than four decades later, this remarkable Scottburgh catch remains part of international angling history!
