PUBLIC NOTICE: REMINDER FOR 12-HOUR WATER SHUTDOWN

Govan Mbeki Municipality issues a reminder to all residents and businesses regarding the scheduled Phase 1 infrastructure maintenance to be conducted by Rand Water tomorrow, Friday, 29 May 2026.

This essential work is strictly scheduled to last for a duration of 12 hours, commencing at 07:00 and concluding at 19:00.

During this maintenance window, the entire municipal area may experience significantly reduced water supply or a complete lack of water pressure.

All community members are strongly urged to store an adequate supply of clean water in advance today to meet their essential needs for the duration of the shutdown.

This includes collecting sufficient water for drinking, cooking and basic hygiene.

While limited water tankers will be deployed to critical areas, residents must rely primarily on their own personal storage to get through the 12-hour period.

To assist in maintaining reservoir levels and ensuring the system recovers quickly after 19:00, the municipality requests that you immediately suspend all non-essential water usage.

Activities such as watering gardens, washing vehicles or filling swimming pools must be avoided.

Your cooperation in reducing demand is important to prevent the complete depletion of municipal reserves.

Please monitor official municipal communication channels for any further updates or changes to the schedule.
