Property Market Terminology | Occupation Date vs Transfer Date: Whatโ€™s the Difference?

These two dates are often confused, but they have very different meanings when buying or selling property.

๐Ÿ”‘๐Ž๐œ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ƒ๐š๐ญ๐ž โ€“ The day the buyer is entitled to move into the property or the seller must vacate. This is when the buyer takes physical occupation and receives the keys.

๐Ÿ“œ๐“๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ฌ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ซ ๐ƒ๐š๐ญ๐ž โ€“ The day the property is legally registered in the buyerโ€™s name at the Deeds Office. This is when legal ownership officially passes to the buyer.
