Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma today issued new directions published in Government Gazette No 43293.

Tenants, buyers and sellers may move into and out of the property if you entered into a lease before or during the lockdown period or if your property transfer registered prior to the lockdown.

This is a 'once off' allowance which exists between 7 May 2020 and 7 June 2020 and a Permit from the nearest police station is required.

How and if estate agents will be allowed to attend to ingoing and outgoing inspections of the property still needs clarification.

New regulations for South Africans under level 4 of the new alert system, in force from today, allows you to walk, run or cycle between 6am and 9am, within a 5km radius of your home.

Gyms, public swimming pools, beaches, public parks as well as sports grounds and fields remain closed.

South Africa's lockdown is set to move to Alert Level 4 tomorrow, 1 May.

Under the new rules the deeds office will operate, consultation related to evictions will be allowed under certain conditions but evictions will be delayed until the last day of Level 4. No moving into or out of properties is allowed.

Estate agents, property managers, property practitioners or landlords are not included in the list of essential work or permitted services. They are thus not permitted to travel to, do or conduct any activity in the ordinary course of business.

Landlords, estate agents and tenants must communicate - we will all get through this unprecedented situation, but only together!

The SA Reserve Bank has cut the repo rate by 100 basis points, or one percentage point. This brings SA's repo rate to 4.25%.

Reserve Bank governor, Lesetja Kganyago, said the decision by the bank's Monetary Policy Committee was unanimous. The cut will go into effect on April 15.
