Reason #4 to love Stanford: The Klein Rivier 🌊🚣♂️
Did you know the Klein Rivier holds a world record? It has the shortest straight-line distance between its mountain source and its ocean mouth (just 5 km as the crow flies), though the actual water bends and winds for about 80 km!
The river is the heart of so much of what makes Stanford special.
Hop aboard one of the river boats for an eco-cruise with sunset views and an on-board braai.
Paddle at your own pace with kayaks and SUP boards.
The Klein River is home to the Stanford Canoe Club. It features competitive and fun paddling training on the river. The club also runs a successful youth development programme.
And with over 200 bird species along the banks, birdwatchers are in their element — keep an eye out for the African Fish Eagle, Blue Crane, and Kingfisher.
🐧 This weekend — 20 June: The Rotary Club Penguin Plunge returns! Jump into the icy Klein River for charity, or cheer from the bank. Plunging penguin or cheering chicken — either way it's for a great cause!
