Can I sell my house once it gets behind in payment?
If you are behind on your bond but the bank has not yet obtained a default judgment against you, you still have full control to sell your property privately.
What to do: Immediately contact your bank to inform them you have placed the house on the market. You will need to provide an undertaking that the outstanding mortgage will be paid in full from the proceeds of the sale.
Immediate Next Steps
Do not ignore the bank: Contact your bank's home loans department immediately to discuss placing your home on their assisted or distressed sales program.
