Sometimes, the Waiting Is Part of the Journey. 🏡❤️
Today reminded me that being a real estate professional is about far more than property, sales and signed agreements.
I spent almost two hours waiting for a client. At first, I was frustrated. I had other commitments, appointments and things that needed my attention, and naturally, I questioned whether my time was being wasted.
But somewhere between the minutes passing and the appointment finally unfolding, I changed the way I looked at it.
Not every appointment goes according to plan.
Not every client becomes a buyer or seller.
Not every effort produces an immediate result.
And sometimes, things genuinely happen that are outside anyone’s control.
But there is another side to this too.
As much as property professionals need to understand that our clients have busy lives and unexpected circumstances, clients also need to respect the time of the professionals they work with.
Our time matters too.
As property practitioners, we have viewings, valuations, listings, paperwork, negotiations, follow-ups, meetings and other clients who have made time in their own schedules to meet with us.
Waiting for an extended period cannot — and should not — become something that is simply expected or routinely tolerated.
Professionalism works both ways.
We need to respect our clients’ time, and our clients need to respect ours.
Of course, there will always be genuine circumstances beyond our control, and when those situations arise, communication and understanding go a long way.
For me, those two hours became a reminder that real estate teaches you patience, perspective and professionalism.
It reminded me to remain professional even when I’m disappointed, to understand that everyone has their own circumstances, and to recognise that not every situation is within our control.
But it also reminded me that boundaries and mutual respect are important.
Those two hours weren’t necessarily wasted.
They gave me two hours of patience.
Two hours of perspective.
Two hours of growth.
And perhaps, two hours that made me a little better at what I do.
At Parklin Real Estate, we believe property is about more than bricks and mortar. It’s about people, relationships, trust, communication and mutual respect.
Because a successful property journey isn’t just about getting the deal done.
It’s about how we treat each other along the way. ❤️🏡
