So I must admit I have been a bit distracted lately with my other passion, the launch of the Emgwenya Heritage and Tourism Information Centre!! After about 5 years of work, with an amazing team and a dedicated donor TRAC N4, the centre, which is a non profit dedicated to creating economic and social opportunities through tourism, officially opened! See pictures here of the inside displays and from our launch which was this Tuesday! I haven’t had time to clean all the photos, and will do a further post of the whole outside.

If you are coming through Emgwenya, please come check out the Centre at 30 ZASM Avenue from 9 am - 5 pm!

A month ago the kids and I ran a 6km that was organized by Sizanokuhle Creations and the Mayor’s office - and Felix got second place and received a trophy from the Mayor! It was such a fun day, and a good run. Thanks to everyone who organized and participated!

It’s winter, which means fire season! We’ve been working over the past few weeks with our neighbors to burn fire breaks around and within our property to protect ourselves and others should a fire start. Burning fire breaks is actually really satisfying work - getting the fire to go in the right direction, working together as a team and then the clear line after that signifies safety.

The hidden gem of our town - the Elands Valley waterfall and ZASM tunnel. Although you can’t see it when you drive by on the N4, take 5 minutes to walk through the tunnel (bring your flashlight!) and get to glimpse this spectacular waterfall.

Sadly the viewing platform is not maintained, so you enter at your own risk, but there are many wonderful people who are taking new interest in this site so hopefully stay tuned for some positive developments!

During the summer our minis graze out in the veld, unless we want help with the mowing, but during the winter we let them out closer to our houses where there is more green grass. They get really excited for the green grass and do little happy dances!

It’s the right time of year for good books, board games and puzzles - here are a few of my favorites! We’ve got you covered at Tegwaan with games and puzzles in each unit, and a free book exchange which has been stocked by various book clubs and kind individuals who needed to reduce their books at home!

Throw back to warmer weather and teaching our eldest how to belay! Even though it’s a little cold now, it’s still lovely climbing when you’re in the sun :)
