Ready for the Pros: Your Essential Pre-Move Checklist
Prepare for a seamless experience when the truck arrives by following these professional prep steps. Being organized doesn't just save time; it ensures your valuables are handled with the highest level of care.
1. Finish the "Box Work" Early
Seal and Label: Ensure every box is taped shut and clearly labeled with its destination room (e.g., "Kitchen," "Main Bedroom").
No Loose Items: Avoid leaving small items or "junk drawer" contents loose. If it fits in a box, it should be in a box.
Weight Check: Keep boxes under 20kg. If a box is too heavy for you to slide easily, it might be at risk of breaking during the lift.
2. Prep Your Furniture & Appliances
Empty Everything: Empty all wardrobes, chests of drawers, and fridges. Moving heavy furniture while full can damage the internal frame.
Unplug and Bundle: Disconnect all electronics. Bundle cables with ties or tape to prevent tripping hazards.
Clear the Path: Ensure hallways and entryways are clear of rugs, shoes, or debris so our team has a straight, safe path to the truck.
3. The "Priority Zone"
Set aside a specific area or "Do Not Move" corner for items you are transporting yourself:
Valuables: Jewelry, cash, and high-end electronics.
Documents: Passports, lease agreements, and moving paperwork.
Keys: Ensure you have the keys to both your old and new properties on your person.
4. Final Walkthrough
Before we load the last item, do one quick sweep of:
High shelves and kitchen cupboards.
Outdoor sheds or garages.
Behind doors and inside built-in closets.
Top Tip: If you have high-performance audio equipment or fragile machinery, let our team know ahead of time so we can prioritize specialized padding and secure placement in the vehicle.
