SUGAR CANE PRODUCTION
just like many we us as zam farm thought sugar cane was a difficult crop to be managed by small scale farmers however, in 2020 we decided to take a risk and ventured in sugar cane production.
things you may need to know are that sugar cane business has more of profit, easy to manage , its market starts from the human resource working on the fields therefore you dont need to struggle with market for customers follow the commodity to the fields so no transport costs.
this project doesn't require huge capital and space . in a 20mtr line if well managed is able to give you more 300 canes and one sugar cane selling at 8 to 10kwacha retail price can you imagine if you have 10×50 lines 🤔 in your backyard garden ?
sugar cane doesn't require fertilizers provided the land is rich with organic matter like dead lives, grass etc , its drought resistant therefore you don't need to stress watering every week like these other crops.
planting season is important you dont have to plant during rainy season as many people think. the best time is August to September.
