TREE PLANTING EXERCISE HELD AHEAD OF NATIONAL LAND CONFERENCE.

Ahead of a two-day groundbreaking National Land Conference set to begin tomorrow 11th June 2025, the Zambia Institute of Estate Agents (ZIEA), with sponsorship from Kuimolly Enterprises and Beta Properties, successfully conducted a tree planting exercise today at Livingstone General Hospital in Southern Province.
The exercise, held under the theme “Greener Lands, Brighter Future,” aimed to promote environmental stewardship and urban sustainability.
Representing the Livingstone Mayor, Deputy Mayor Robert Wandila emphasized the importance of such initiatives amid global challenges like climate change, deforestation, and environmental degradation.
He noted that trees contribute not only to beautifying urban landscapes but also play a role in enhancing property values and creating cooler, healthier communities. He expressed appreciation for the involvement of private and professional organizations in advancing efforts to build a cleaner, greener city and called on the public to nurture the trees with care and commitment.
ZIEA President Chileshe Musonda highlighted that the initiative goes beyond tree planting, symbolizing hope, resilience, and responsibility. He underscored the Institute’s awareness of how the environment influences health, well-being, and quality of life. The choice of Livingstone General Hospital as the planting site was described as both symbolic and practical, recognizing hospitals as spaces that should foster healing in a peaceful, nurturing environment.
Beta Properties Managing Director Musonda Kalumbeta, who represented co-sponsor Kuimolly Enterprises, commended ZIEA for its forward-thinking leadership. He stressed the importance of such platforms in promoting innovative approaches to land use, financing, and climate-resilient development. The sponsors reaffirmed their commitment to working collaboratively with stakeholders to create a more inclusive and sustainable real estate sector in Zambia.
The tree planting initiative served as a reminder of the vital link between land development and environmental responsibility, setting the tone for the discussions expected at the upcoming National Land Conference.
