TITLE DEEDS VALIDATION DEADLINE SET AT 24 MONTHS
Government has set a 24-month deadline for property owners to validate old title deeds under the Title Deeds Validation and Digitisation Programme. The move is part of efforts to eliminate property fraud and duplication of ownership documents. Under Statutory Instrument 76 of 2025, Zimbabwe is transitioning towards a more secure digital-first property registration system aimed at strengthening transparency and land tenure security.

The Estate Agents Council is concerned about misleading social media posts offering real estate services (see attached video). It reminds the public that real estate practice in Zimbabwe is regulated, and transactions must go through registered estate agents and licensed firms. The public should verify an agent's registration before making payments, signing agreements, or sharing personal information to prevent fraud, misrepresentation, or dealing with unqualified practitioners. Contact the Estate Agents Council for confirmation before paying.

Deal only with registered estate agents and registered agency firms. The Estate Agents Council urges the public to verify first, transact safely, and report suspicious property adverts.

28/04/2026

Do not trust a property advert simply because it appears online. Always verify the estate agent, agency firm, office address, Compensation Fund Certificate, and EAC registration status before making any payment.
