Preamble
There is something calming and peaceful about looking out of one's window onto lush green pastures dotted with horses grazing and seeing the occasional rider or group of riders strolling lazily by on horseback; children playing safely outside; people walking their pets, jogging, chatting and generally enjoying the great outdoors. Many of us are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and find a little piece of heaven-on-earth to call our own. This is your opportunity.
Introduction
Ubuntu Property Services is pleased to be able to introduce The Meadows Residential Estate - the first significant gated residential estate development since the creation of Borrowdale Brooke.
The Meadows is a lifestyle estate with an equestrian theme, and an emphasis on providing a secure, quality living environment. This will be achieved by developing and maintaining infrastructure, roads and urban fabric to the highest standard and imposing a set of strong aesthetic controls on housing development in the estate, while at the same time, creating an environment where residents will find peace and tranquillity; and be able to relax, and unwind. For the foreseeable future, the adjacent Art Farm will remain a working farm, giving the atmosphere of the estate an “out-of-town” or “country” feel.
The Location
The development site is situated in the well-established and ever-popular suburb of Mount Pleasant, and has a 2-kilometre frontage along Harare Drive.
Mount Pleasant has long been recognised as a sought-after residential area. Its appeal is driven by:
• stable and relatively high property (capital) values;
• a strong appeal to the expatriate/NGO/Embassy community, which continues to push up rental
values;
• relatively good infrastructure (roads and services);
• house proud residents;
• a strong sense of community;
• excellent schools (e.g. Gateway, Harare International School, Arundel, Northwood);
• excellent medical facilities (Rock Foundation Medical Centre).
In addition there are numerous social amenities and services close by, including a police station, sports clubs, conference facilities, and places of worship. In recent years the status of Mount Pleasant, as an economic hub, has grown in significance with the establishment of restaurants, a food-court, office parks (Mount Pleasant Office Park, Arundel Office Park, Emerald Hill Office Park), company head- offices (Old Mutual, BancABC, Tetrad) diplomatic and NGO residences, and Embassies (British, Chinese).
There is also no shortage of shopping facilities. Within a short driving distance along Harare Drive (10 – 15 minutes) are Sam Levy’s Village to the East and Westgate Shopping Centre to the West. Also in close proximity are the Groombridge, Bond and Emerald Hill (Neighbourhood) Shopping Centres, and Arundel (Community) Shopping Centre. The Harare CBD is a short 15-minute commute away (outside rush hour traffic), along Harare Drive and Second Street or Borrowdale Road.
Harare Drive also links to Harare’s leafy Northern Suburbs (most are within a 10 - 15 minute driving radius).
