Fifty years ago, the Barnes family moved to Melville.
Our first home was on Curtis Road, just a few houses from Melville Primary School.
I walked to school, rode my bike through the neighbourhood, played local sport, and as a teenager delivered newspapers through Melville, Alfred Cove and Applecross.
Little did I know that fifty years later I would still be living and working in the very community that helped shape my life.
Over the years I've watched the area grow and evolve. New developments, new landmarks, changing skylines and generations of families creating their own memories here.
My first real estate listing was in Applecross.
My first sale was in Mount Pleasant.
I later sent five sons through local schools.
And today, fifty years after arriving here as a young boy, I still feel privileged to call this community home.
A lot has changed.
But the connection to the river, the lifestyle, and the sense of community remain as strong as ever.
β€οΈ I get it.
