This is what I would tell seven year old Nate...

What did I want to be when I grew up?

13/10/2026

The goal was to run a sub 2:30:00 half mara.
The last 5 km I had some crazy head noise.

“Why are you here”
“This sucks, it hurts”
“It’s okay if you quit”

For an optimistic person, it was very hard to hear myself like that. But! We persevered, simplified the plan, and corrected the self-talk.

“You’re exactly where you are meant to be”
“This is supposed to be hard, it’s supposed hurt”
“Can you take another step? YES”
“Where are you going? Forward”

I learned a lot about myself in those last 5 k’s. The brain flips to survival mode when the mind and body are under attack. It’s your will to endure and persevere that corrects that pattern and builds resilience. I will be back to crack this sub 2:30…

The vibes were incredible and the support from the STRUD Team, friends and family was amazing - we have the best people!
Grateful! Grateful! Grateful!
