🎅 Christmas magic for 20 local families

Twenty Busselton families doing it tough will receive a special Christmas memory this year, thanks to local photographer Abby Murray and Busselton Agency owners Sonia and Chris Rigoll.

Each year, Abby offers free photo sessions to families facing difficult circumstances, from single parents under pressure to families dealing with illness, cancer or other challenges.

Last year, the response was so moving she ended up offering sessions to far more than the five families originally planned.

“I just couldn’t believe the stories of strength and courage and just what mums do to keep their heads above water,” Abby said.

Wanting to reach even more families this Christmas, Abby approached local businesses for support before a chance conversation with Sonia and Chris led to an immediate yes.

With Busselton Agency’s sponsorship, 20 local families will now be offered either a special photograph with Father Christmas or a professional family portrait, with hopes of including some small gifts as well.

Sonia said the partnership was about supporting local families and creating memories they could treasure for years.

“A photograph might seem like a small thing, but years from now that image can become something incredibly special for a family,” she said.

Chris said the initiative reflected what Christmas should be about.

“Christmas is all about family, connection and a little bit of magic,” he said.

Abby is now asking the community to help identify families who could benefit most.

Locals can nominate a friend, relative or another family doing it tough by emailing a brief explanation of their circumstances and the nominee’s contact details to [email protected].

“I am so excited to bring a little Christmas magic this year,” Abby said.
