Bidding at auction for the first time can feel overwhelming, but the right preparation makes all the difference.

💥 Have your finance ready, understand your limit, and go in with a clear plan. When you bid with confidence and stay composed, you give yourself the best chance to secure the right home.

Because at the end of it all, there’s nothing better than seeing that sold sticker go up and knowing you’ve secured a place to call your own.

Sold under the hammer, from one family to the next.

This home was purchased by a family who already knew and loved the area!

Moments like this are a great reminder that property is never just about bricks and mortar. Sometimes it’s about giving people the opportunity to officially call the place they already love, home 👏

Huge congratulations to both the sellers and buyers on a fantastic result.

I'm answering the most common questions I get as an agent & auctioneer 👇

If bidding doesn’t reach the reserve, the property gets “passed in.”

That’s not the end of the story, it’s where the negotiation begins. I’ve seen plenty of strong results come together after a pass-in, it just shifts from the auction floor to a more direct conversation.

If you’re unsure where to start, I'm happy to point you in the right direction.

If you’re new to Canberra, here’s a quick crash course.

Locals can spot it straight away when a suburb gets mispronounced and a few catch people out every time.

Here are a few to get right 👇

Ngunnawal
❌ Nuh-goon-a-wal
✅ NUN-nah-wol

Wanniassa
❌ Wan-ee-ah-sa
✅ Won-E-Assa

Manuka
❌ Man-oo-ka
✅ Mah-nah-kah

If you know, you know!

That’s what I’m here for. Not just property, but helping you understand the area inside and out.

Buyer activity is holding strong right now, especially if you are well prepared. 👇

We’re seeing significant competition for properties around the $1M mark and below, which is leading some buyers to look slightly higher. As a result, there’s currently an opportunity for those considering homes just above that range, where competition can be more balanced.

For buyers looking to upsize, this could be a window worth exploring. Timing and positioning in the market can make all the difference.

I'm answering the most common questions I get as an agent & auctioneer 👇

There’s no safety net here.

When you’re bidding, you’re buying unconditionally. No cooling-off period, no second chances, so your homework needs to be done before you even think about raising your hand.

If you’re unsure where to start, I'm happy to point you in the right direction.

Fun fact about Fyshwick.

The name actually comes from Sir Philip Fysh, a Tasmanian politician who played a key role in Australia’s federation. The suburb was named in his honour when Canberra was being planned.

And the second half?
“Wick” comes from Old English, meaning a village or district.

So put it together and Fyshwick literally means “Fysh’s district.”

Fast forward to today and it’s become Canberra’s go-to hub for trade, industry, and some of the city’s best hidden gems.

Not bad for what started as a planned industrial village.

I’m answering 10 of the most common questions I get as an auctioneer and agent. First up: buyers!

Short answer: yes, but it’s risky.

If your finance isn’t locked in, you’re not just bidding, you’re rolling the dice. Auction contracts are unconditional, so there’s no safety net if things don’t line up after the fact.
