Celebrating 60 Years of Forrest Hotel & Apartments

As we celebrate 60 remarkable years of Forrest Hotel & Apartments, we’re reflecting on the many chapters that have shaped our place in Canberra’s history.
As a family‑run hotel to becoming a trusted home‑away‑from‑home for travellers, public servants, sporting teams, and visiting dignitaries, Forrest has always been part of the city’s story.
Many don’t know that the hotel was once owned by five politicians, and that Bob Hawke regularly stayed in Room 10 during his early years in Canberra. Over the decades, our rooms have welcomed leaders, artists, families, and film crews — each leaving a little piece of their story behind.
We were also proud to see Forrest featured in Secret City, the Canberra‑based political thriller filmed right here in the capital. Our leafy streets, classic architecture, and proximity to Parliament House made Forrest a perfect backdrop for the series.
