🌿 A new chapter for the Lower Zambezi.

We’re excited to share a first look at Musesenji River Camp, the newest addition to the Ker & Downey Zambia portfolio, opening in 2027.

Set at the confluence of the Zambezi and Musesenji Rivers, the camp represents everything that makes Zambia such a remarkable safari destination… Exceptional wildlife, untouched landscapes and a deep connection to place.

For decades, Ker & Downey Zambia has built a reputation for creating some of Africa’s most authentic safari experiences, combining outstanding guiding, conservation leadership and genuine hospitality. Musesenji River Camp is a natural extension of that legacy.

We’re excited to finally share a glimpse of what’s to come!

Most people think a project starts with a concept. We believe it starts with a site survey.

For this lodge on the Kafue River in Zambia, every significant tree was mapped before the design began.

It’s the same approach we take on every project.

Because once a tree exists on a plan, it stops being an obstacle and starts becoming something you have to answer to.

That thinking shaped everything that followed. Rather than reworking the site to suit the buildings, the buildings were adapted to suit the site. Tents were elevated on Lift Kits and engineered platforms, Eco Anchors eliminated the need for conventional concrete foundations, expansive stretch roofs provide passive shading, and natural airflow was prioritised from the outset.

Not: how much can we fit on this site?

But: what is this site already doing well, and how do we preserve it?

The best design decision is often the one you don’t make 🏕️🍃

Some projects are measured in square metres.

The best ones are measured in moments.

A quiet morning. A longer lunch. One more glass of wine before heading inside.

The kinds of moments that make a weekend feel longer than it was.
au is definitely the latter.

A bit overdue, but this stunning project definitely deserves a spot on the grid!

These linked suites at have been standing since 2021!

Perched on the edge of the Scotts Creek wetlands, the structures have handled years of floodplain elements and the South Australian climate.

Huge credit to our clients, the Byrne family. As multi-generational caretakers of this land, they maintain a 12:1 ratio of conservation land to vineyard—an incredible commitment to the region. It’s a great example of how to approach sensitive, high-conservation sites.
