What a great day at the Gogoong RFS Open Day on Saturday! 🚒💦

This year was extra special, marking 10 years of celebrating our local firefighters with this event at Googong township, and our first Open Day as the newly named Googong Rural Fire Brigade.

Thank you to everyone who came along. The kids climbing aboard the trucks, the families chatting with our volunteers, and the community spirit on show are what make Googong so special.

A huge thank you to our incredible Googong RFS volunteers, who give their time, energy and skills to keep our community safe, all year round. We’re proud to have you as part of Googong.

The Googong annual Rural Fire Service Open Day returns this Saturday, 17 October, from 10am to 2pm, with the Googong Rural Fire Brigade ready to welcome the community for a free, family-friendly day out.

There’ll be plenty of fun for the young, and young-at-heart, from climbing aboard fire trucks and blasting hoses to enjoying live music, face painting and delicious food stalls.

A quiet, sensory-friendly space will also be available, ensuring everyone can enjoy the day at their own pace.

Pram Walk, Talk & Exercise Group, every Thursday in Googong!

This isn't a new initiative — it's been supporting local parents for almost 28 years, run by the Queanbeyan Postnatal Depression Community Advisory Group as part of a broader mental wellbeing program with Council and NSW Health.

Each week, Matt Sanders from R.E.D Fitness leads the group through a free walk-and-exercise session, with a Child & Family Health Nurse from Southern NSW LHD joining once a month.

It's a great way to get moving and meet other parents in the community.

Following a vote from their volunteer members, the Jerrabomberra Creek Rural Fire Brigade is officially becoming the Googong Rural Fire Brigade from this Sunday, 20 September.

It's a name that reflects just how connected and recognised the Googong community has become - and a brigade that will keep protecting Fernleigh Park, Mt Campbell, Little Burra, Googong Township, Mt Pleasant, Royalla and surrounding areas, with the same dedicated volunteers, in the same trucks, from the same stations.

Congratulations to the whole team on this milestone. From joining our resident events on the ground to emergency responses, we're so grateful for everything you do for our community - and proud to share the Googong name with you! 🧡
