We stripped away years of heavy, high-gloss gloss to uncover the raw soul of the timber beneath.
There is a unique architectural charm to Melbourne’s open-plan homes, but the heavy, dated red finishes of the past can often make our indoor spaces feel enclosed especially when the winter grey sets in.

By artisanally bleaching the inherent deep red tones of native Jarrah and applying a delicate, light limewash, we’ve completely recontextualized this living zone.
What was once dark and grounding is now an open, airy canvas that drinks in the afternoon sun and seamlessly connects the interior to the leafy deck outside.
It’s proof that you don’t need to replace classic Australian timber to achieve a completely modern architectural aesthetic. You just need to look at it through a different lens.

The Jarrah Refinement Bleached & Limewashed to Perfection.
There is a quiet power in neutralizing the intense, fiery tones of traditional timber to reveal something more grounded. For this project, we moved away from the deep crimson of original Jarrah to create a space that feels inherently more classic and composed.
Through a specialized process of bleaching and limewashing, we’ve tempered the red pigments, shifting the palette toward a sophisticated, muted brown. This transition instantly elevates the mood of the home, offering an elegant foundation that complements a more refined, modern interior.

Re-visiting this sun-drenched residence a decade after our first collaboration was a lesson in the beauty of evolution. Following an extensive interior remodel, the task was clear: restore the soul of the reclaimed Teak while balancing ten years of natural, sun-bleached character.

Through a surgical restoration and a bespoke pigment study, we achieved a custom matte finish that bridges the gap between historical warmth and contemporary minimalism. A ground-up transformation for a space that continues to inspire.

The Palette: Custom-blended Teak stain finished with a signature matte water-based polyurethane.
