Did your mum ever tell you, “If you’ve got nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all”? 😊 There’s still something in that advice even for Social Media!
Comments on other pages have a way of finding their way back to the people being discussed. A separate Facebook group doesn’t mean the words stay within it, or that they don’t hurt.
It’s easy to become a keyboard warrior behind a screen, but there are real people on the receiving end. Laughing along or encouraging hurtful comments adds to the negativity too. Those approving posts and moderating a committee run page also have a responsibility to set a respectful example.
Of course, concerns deserve to be heard, we’re always happy for people to raise them with us directly so we can listen, respond and work towards a solution. You don’t have to agree with someone to treat them kindly.
Before posting, approving or reacting, perhaps ask yourself: would Mum approve? 😉 Happy Friday, everyone! ❤️
