Starting 19 May 2025, significant changes to rental laws in New South Wales will make it easier for tenants to keep pets in rental properties. Here's an overview of the new rules:

Keeping a pet in a rental property is about to get easier 🐾

As of 19 May 2025:
✅ A new standard application form clarifies the process for both tenants and landlords
✅ Landlords can only refuse a tenant’s request to keep a pet for certain reasons, like if they live at the property or due to a council rule
✅ If landlords don’t respond within 21 days, pet approval is automatic.
