Our office participated in Nexus Luxembourg 2026, Europe’s leading AI and technology summit, held on 10 - 11 June to showcase Hong Kong’s vibrant innovation ecosystem in promoting the development of AI and technology.

Our office and InvestHK co-hosted a dedicated booth providing information to Luxembourg and overseas attendees with business and investment opportunities in Hong Kong.

Speaking at the event, Ms Shirley Yung, Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs to the European Union, updated the participants on Hong Kong’s dynamic innovation ecosystem and the various recent government policies that are conducive to the development of AI and technology. She emphasised, “the Hong Kong Government has positioned AI as a focus of its I&T strategy developing it as a core industry while also harnessing its potential as a powerful enabler to upgrade traditional sectors.”

Earlier this week, we shared the inspiring stories of 2 outstanding Hong Kong women. Today, we shine a spotlight on another source of optimism for our city : 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗴’𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 👩‍🔬👨‍💻.

🔬💡The newly released 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗲𝘀 𝟯𝟬 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟬 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 list recognises a number of young entrepreneurs and researchers from Hong Kong who are pushing boundaries across innovation, science, technology, sustainability, healthcare and AI, such as:

🌱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 (𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗟𝘂𝗶) : pest control through AI-powered tracking and eco-friendly repellents.
🚌 𝗦𝗢𝗖𝗜𝗙 (𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴, 𝗚𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗧𝘀𝘂𝗶, 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗬𝘂𝗲𝗻) : transforming public transport through AIoT smart mobility solutions.
🧠 𝗗𝗿 𝗭𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘄𝘂 𝗟𝗶𝘂, Assistant Professor at HKU, focusing on brain-computer interface technologies.
🤖 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳 𝗫𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘆𝗶 𝗬𝗮𝗻𝗴, Assistant Professor in the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at PolyU, specialising in generative AI, world models and spatial intelligence.

🌅Good morning! We would like to start this week by introducing 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 who have just made history, and show us how far perseverance can take us on the global stage, or beyond the sky.

🧑‍🚀🛰️ Having completed rigorous astronaut training on the ground, Hong Kong’s first female 𝗗𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝗶 𝗞𝗮-𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 is now aboard the Shenzhou-23 mission to work on the Tiangong space station - showing us how determination and ambition can turn seemingly unimaginable dreams into reality!

🎼🎻 Born in Hong Kong to non-musical parents, 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻 has, step by step, carved her own path as a and risen through the ranks of the classical music world. She has just been appointed Music Director of the San Francisco Symphony, becoming the first female music director in the symphony’s 115-year history!

Didn't make it to Paris last year before Centre Pompidou closed for its major five-year renovation? Don't worry, we've got good news for you! Hong Kong is bringing one of the world's most renowned museums of modern and contemporary art home! 🎨

On 15 May 2026, M+ and Centre Pompidou signed a new Memorandum of Understanding in Hong Kong, establishing a multi-year strategic partnership, with jointly developed exhibitions at M+ planned from 2027 onwards. The partnership formalises a broad framework across four key areas:
• Joint curatorial research
• Exhibition development and sharing
• Co-commissions and artwork displays
• Collection exchange

The cooperation also includes a major co-curated exhibition to be presented at both institutions. It will be supported by a four-year postdoctoral fellowship, contributing to the research and writing of exhibitions developed through this partnership. 🌏

While the doors at Place Georges-Pompidou in Paris are temporarily closed, its spirit of art and creativity will continue in Hong Kong. Stay tuned for more inspiring cultural collaborations between Hong Kong and France! ✨

🐉🚣 Last weekend, we were in Barcelona to support the 7th Barcelona International Dragon Boat Festival!

A total of 38 teams from 15 countries joined this international and multicultural sporting event 🌍✨

Highlights from the event:

• 🎁We distributed souvenirs to visitors at the Hong Kong booth

• 🚣 We invited our friends in Barcelona to row in the “Hong Kong boat”

• 🏅 Our Deputy Representative, Mr Kasper Ng, presented 4 awards and several medals to the winning teams

⛵ While Hong Kong’s 2026 event calendar is already packed with world-class experiences, its #2027 calendar is beginning to take shape, promising another year of spectacular international mega events.

Among the major highlights following the New Year celebrations is the 2027 Rolex SailGP Championship, bringing some of the world’s fastest racing catamarans to the heart of Victoria Harbour.

Hong Kong’s iconic harbour has long served as the stage for world-class events, from open-water swimming competitions and the International Dragon Boat Races to now the thrilling SailGP Championship.

Anyone at the Venice Biennale earlier this month, or planning to visit soon? 🙋🏻‍♀️🇮🇹

You have probably noticed the “Fermata: Hong Kong in Venice”, a Hong Kong exhibition presented as a Collateral Event of the 61st Venice Biennale, featuring works by Hong Kong artists Kingsley Ng and Angel Hui.

At the invitation of the 香港藝術發展局 Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), the Hong Kong Museum of Art 香港藝術館is collaborating with the HKADC for the first time this year to participate in the Venice Biennale’s Collateral Events programme. Running from May to November 2026, the exhibition showcases Hong Kong’s artistic diversity on the international stage!

In parallel, the Arts Information Centre of the HKADC is presenting a new quarterly display: “Hong Kong’s International Presence: Selected Archival Traces of the Venice Art Biennale”. The display features selected archival materials from five editions of Hong Kong’s participation in the Venice Biennale, including booklets, promotional leaflets, art books related to the exhibited works, and archives from response exhibitions held in Hong Kong. The collection traces back to 2001, the year of Hong Kong’s first participation in the Venice Biennale!
