✨️ The Bank of Canada lowered its interest rate by 50-basis points to 3.25% and suggested the cut will likely be followed by a return to smaller cuts in 2025.

"This decision marks the fifth consecutive cut by the central bank this year and the second half-point cut to the overnight rate. The last times the bank made two consecutive half-point cuts were at the outset of the pandemic in 2020 and during the 2008 financial crisis. The overnight rate now sits at the top of the central bank’s neutral range."

The Bank of Canada today reduced its target for the overnight rate to 3¾%, with the Bank Rate at 4% and the deposit rate at 3¾%.

The half percentage point cut is the fourth rate cut in a row by the central bank as inflation has continued to drop.
