Why does the Vital Homes program prioritize local residents?

The Vital Homes program was created to help address Canmore's housing affordability challenges by supporting the people who live and work in our community.

By prioritizing eligible local residents, the program helps strengthen the workforce, support local businesses, and contribute to a healthy, resilient community.

Eligibility includes several factors, including a qualifying connection to Canmore, as outlined in the program requirements.

Our goal is simple: to help ensure below-market housing serves the community it was created to support.

Building Canmore's Future, One Permit (and One Wall Panel) at a Time

Ever wonder what it actually takes to bring new housing to Canmore? Spoiler: it's a lot more than pouring concrete!

CCH's development process includes:
βœ… Technical studies & design development
βœ… Land use bylaw approvals with the Town of Canmore
βœ… Development & Building permits
βœ… Securing funding and grants

It's a multi-stage journey, but the payoff is real, purpose-built housing for our community.

Speaking of progress πŸ“ At 100 Palliser Lane, things are moving fast! With up to 100 trades people on site daily, Building 1's final floor is going in and Building 2's third floor is nearing completion. Crews are working through window installation, balcony connections, and mechanical/electrical rough-ins, all while backfilling outside to shape the site.

144 units of near net-zero, purpose-built rental housing are on track for residents by summer 2027!
