CCH Housing Update | September 2026
Here’s a look at what’s happening across Canmore Community Housing as we head into fall.
Vital Homes Waitlists
Demand for both our Rental and Ownership programs continues to grow. Rental inquiries have increased as seasonal employees begin looking for accommodation, while wait times for the Rental Program remain more than two years.
Ownership wait times for 2- and 3-bedroom homes are also currently more than two years, with limited resale opportunities and demand continuing to outpace available inventory.
New Rental Housing Coming
Construction at 100 Palliser Lane is progressing. The project will provide 144 purpose-built rental homes across two buildings, including one-, two- and three-bedroom homes and a minimum of 20% accessible units.
Construction remains on track for summer 2027 completion, with more than 100 tradespeople working on site each day.
Canmore Rental Market
Market rental rates continue to put pressure on local residents. In August, the average advertised rate for a one-bedroom home topped $2,500 per month. Two-bedroom rates have remained relatively stable, while three-bedroom rates have decreased in recent months.
CCH continues to monitor the local rental market and work toward increasing the supply of long-term, non-market housing for Canmore residents and workers.
Building more housing takes time. CCH continues to pursue new rental and ownership opportunities while managing the homes already in our portfolio.
