It’s a strange thing to have one of the best months of your career while you are simultaneously going though the worst time of your life.
As many of you know, my father passed away in late June after a quick and brutal battle with cancer. But if you’ve ever been self-employed, you know that there are no sick days or bereavement leaves and people are still relying on you. The interesting thing about a real estate transaction is that you may have been working on getting to that finish line for weeks, months or even years. So when it’s time, it’s time.
All my clients knew what was going on and I told them that while they might see me cry, or I might not be my usual self, I wouldn’t let them down. And Simon, my always unsung hero, did every possible thing to help me, my clients and simultaneously hold our household together.
My dad was a super hard worker, and he instilled that same work ethic in me and my siblings. Whenever he was proud of me, he’d give me a little wink and a thumbs up. And I’d like to think he’s doing that right now. He would have been the first person I sent this photo to.
