📌 Bank of Canada Holds Rate at 2.25%

The Bank of Canada has announced that it will maintain the overnight rate at 2.25%.

Here’s what this means in a nutshell:

🌍 Global Outlook
Major economies continue to show resilience despite ongoing trade uncertainty.
* The U.S. is being supported by strong consumer spending and significant AI-related investment.
* Europe is seeing stronger-than-expected growth, especially in services.
* China is experiencing softer demand, particularly in the housing sector.
* Financial conditions, oil prices, and the Canadian dollar remain stable compared to the last MPR.

🇨🇦 Canadian Economic Highlights
* Canada posted a stronger-than-expected 2.6% GDP growth in Q3, although much of it came from trade volatility.
* Final domestic demand was flat but is expected to improve slightly in Q4.
* Growth is forecast to pick up in 2026, though uncertainty remains.

👔 Labour Market
* Employment has strengthened over the last three months.
* Unemployment dipped to 6.5% in November, though hiring intentions remain cautious in trade-sensitive sectors.

📉 Inflation
* CPI inflation slowed to 2.2% in October, staying close to the Bank’s 2% target.
* Core inflation remains between 2.5% and 3%.
* Some temporary bumps are expected due to last year’s GST/HST holiday, but overall inflation is projected to stay near target.
